About St. John's and Its History
|
From the Worshipful Master September 2008
Brethren,
We had a very good month at St. John's Lodge during the month of August. We held a “Rusty Brother” night at our stated communication and several members who have not been to lodge in a long time attended. It was great to see these brothers again and several indicated they will start attending lodge again! We also had our official Visitation from District Deputy Grand Master and his Suite. We put on a Master Mason Degree and we received very high marks for our Ritual and Floor Work. In fact, the District Deputy Grand Lecturer reported to Grand Lodge that “St. John's Lodge has set the bar very high for the rest of the District Lodge Visitations. Congratulations to all the Lodge Officers for their excellent work. And finally, to close out the month we Initiated 3 new Entered Apprentices! As we roll into September we have the 1st Masonic District Lodge of Instruction on Friday September 5th. I sincerely hope that you all will attend and support our District Deputy Grand Master and Brother Right Worshipful William S. Sawyer. The event is being held at the Portsmouth Masonic Temple. Last time we hosted the Lodge of Instruction in Portsmouth, another lodge had more members in attendance that we did. I hope this does not happen again at this lodge of instruction. All lodge officers and Master Masons Raised since September of 2007 are required to attend. We also have 8 more Visitations coming up at Lodges throughout our district and I hope you will attend those as well. With September here and the kids going back to school it is natural to start thinking about “next year.” If you are interested in holding an officer’s position in the Lodge, would like to help with degrees in some way, or want to serve on a committee next year then please let either me or our Senior Warden Alan Ammann know. As we look ahead to October we’ll be busy once again. We will have our Annual Veteran’s Award program on October 8th and I hope each of you make a special effort to attend. This is a semi-public meeting and our Grand Master will be here. We will also be working several candidates for degrees. Fraternally
Tom Haslam
