About St. John's and Its History
|
From the Worshipful Master May 2008
Brethren,
April was a very productive month for St. John's Lodge. We held a Step-up Night at the Stated Meeting where all officers filled in at the next higher chair in line toward the East, we presented another $1000.00 check to a local charity, initiated a new Entered Apprentice, and passed four brothers to the degree of Fellow Craft. We also held our 2nd Annual “Out of Hibernation” 5K Road Race.
The road race was a huge success. We had 225 runners compete in several different classes and we were able to raise over $3000 for our chosen charity which was the Seacoast Family Hospice. A representative from the Seacoast Media Group was on hand to document the event as we started the race with a Cannon Blast, and Brother Brian Koelbel captured the day’s activities with some very nice photos. I would like to thank Wor. Bro. Dan Stolworthy, and Brother Dan Silverman for Co-Chairing this event. I would also like to thank the road race committee of Bros. Tim Niehart, Bob Sutherland, Bill Annis, Gregg Annis, and Gib Palmer, as well as the many volunteers and sponsors who made this event possible. I would also like to thank the brothers that reached into their pockets to sponsor the race; Wor. Bro. Dan Stolworthy, and Bros. Tim Neihart, Jon Neihart and Mark Gellar.
As we look to May we have another busy month planned. We will be passing another brother to the degree of Fellow Craft, and we will be raising 4 brothers to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on Past Master’s Night which will be on May 21st. We will also be finalizing the selections for the George Ward Scholarships which will be presented in June.
As you can see from the above activities, St. John’s Lodge is growing and we are making a positive impact in our community. We can all be proud of our organization and as in any group we need to continually add members who will bring new ideas and energy to our lodge. We have not received any petitions for membership in a couple months and so the time is now for all of us to promote our lodge to friends and family. The easiest way to do that is to direct them to our Lodge Website which is www.stjohnslodge1.org, or to Brother Dan Silverman’s website www.whatismasonry.com.
Fraternally
