From the Worshipful Master

March 2008

Brethren,

I would like to extend a special greeting to all the “snow birds” that have gone South for the winter. It has been a long winter here in beautiful New England with lots of snow and high energy bills! Speaking of high energy bills I have invited one of our local utility companies (Unitil) to make a presentation at our March Stated Communication on “Controlling Your Energy Costs.” It should be a very informative and entertaining meeting and for those of you who aren’t enjoying a warmer climate this winter I hope you can make it!

The Lodge has been very busy once again this past month. We initiated a new Entered Apprentice and we have three more that we will initiate in March. We also have a fifth candidate that we are in the process of investigating. We have been very busy planning our “Out of Hibernation Road Race” which will be held on Saturday April 26th. Worshipful Brother Dan Stolworthy, Brother Dan Silverman, and their committee have worked very hard on making this a successful event and the proceeds from this race will be donated to Seacoast Hospice. We are still in need of sponsors for the race so if you would like to contribute, or you have a business you would like to promote please come forward and let us know. We have a fundraiser coming up on March 15th to raise funds for our 275th Anniversary. The fundraiser is in the form of a dinner we’re hosting for the Historic District Boy Scouts. We need 10 volunteers to help with this event so please contact me if you can assist.

In closing it has been a great honor serving as Master for St. John's so far this year. During our February Stated Meeting I presented five $1000 checks to local charities and I was surprised at how much they all appreciated our donation and how much they need help from organizations like St. John's Lodge. Brethren, you can be proud that you are associated with a good organization doing the right things in our community!

Enjoy these last few weeks of winter and think spring!

Fraternally
