From the Worshipful Master

August 2010

Dear Brethren,

This past month we used our new “Call-em-All” voice messaging service for the first time. We sent automated voice messages to all the brethren living in Maine & New Hampshire to announce the new service and invite them to our Master Mason Degree where we raised four new Master Masons. We will be adding the rest of the brethren to our calling list in the near future. The purpose of these automated messages is to alert the brethren to upcoming events and to notify brethren of important news that needs to be communicated in between Trestle Boards. I plan to keep these messages to a minimum but I’m happy to report that we did have a few brethren attend our degree after not having been in lodge for awhile.

As mentioned last month we are very busy raising candidates this year. As an officer I enjoy working with candidates. However, there are other ways to enjoy masonry besides just raising candidates all the time. I joined to enjoy fellowship with my brethren and to become more active in giving back to my community. I know many of you joined for the same reasons. We need ideas from our membership to increase our activities in these areas. Do you have a charitable or community service activity you would like to help organize? Are there activities that you would participate in if it were organized?

Speaking of activities to enjoy fellowship, I mentioned last month that the lodge is having a special social event in September. All brethren who have an interest in home brewing beer are challenged to make a batch and enter it in our taste testing contest to be held in September. I can assure you this will be a fun time had by all and the taste testing will be done in moderation.

I hope you all enjoy the rest of the summer.

Fraternally,

Tom Haslam
